Identity

Hello, I'm Selly Yoon.

  • Birthday: 1999.12.28
  • Nationality: Republic of Korea
  • B.S. Computer Science, 2022
  • Independent Researcher; No affiliation.
  • Prospective graduate student in neuroscience/cognitive science

Research Profile

  • Research Focus: Theoretical modeling of consciousness
  • Primary Method: Analytic philosophy and conceptual decomposition
  • Analytical Framework: Physical dynamics, process ontology, and causal modeling
Note. I do not do philosophy because I like philosophy.

My research is primarily grounded in a pre-emergence/pre-processing perspective under constraints, focusing on the criterion conditions and formation processes of elements that existing theories have not sufficiently addressed: hierarchical differentiation, explainability, temporal emergence, cross-scale functional-structural equivalence, and perturbation/disruption boundary cases.

My main areas of interest are listed below, but I am interested in many fields without limitation.

  • Consciousness and Cognitive Architecture:
psychiatry, neuroscience, psychology, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, metabolism and bioenergetics approaches

  • Computational Architecture:
Hardware–software contract-based architectures for confidence-aware, approximate, parallel, and representational computation.
  • Astronomy:
Time frameworks derived from irreducible atomic physical constituents
  • Scientific Methodology:
Recursive decomposition of abstract and formalized terms into their underlying material constituents, operational structures, relational networks, and explanatory status, in order to preserve variables that may otherwise be omitted or flattened in scientific description.

Identity

  • The only philosophies I place trust in are Occam’s Razor and Socrates’ “Know Thyself.”
  • My self-image is a 172-polyhedron double-sided mirror. (Metaphysical Metaphor)
  • While I deeply respect the autonomy of every field of knowledge,
I also strive to weave them together—as everything is separate, and together.
  • My god is myself. (Non-religious; Self-sovereignty & Self-esteem)
  • Anti-flattening theorist. Freedom under constraints.
  • Core Motivation: Mutual Co-Evolution & Tranquility
The countless philosophical maxims of renowned scholars may serve as intermittent guides for life, but they can never constitute an entire life.
What matters most is the stance one takes toward oneself.
A maxim is not a casual remark.
It is time—condensed at the heaviest and deepest point of someone’s life.
To quote it lightly is to trample on the life it came from.
